Clone Wars Cartoons - Chapters 1 to 10

most tv sucks these days, but there are some shining examples of good writing, acting, camera work, etc... we call those Deadwood and Arrested Development. Family Guy sucks ass, though...

Clone Wars Cartoons - Chapters 1 to 10

Post by jjreason »

Finally saw them tonight, many months after their initial release. The Canadian channel Teletoon finally played them back to back, that's what I'd been waiting for. Managed to tape it as well in case I get the urge to go back and see them again. Here are my conclusions.

Overall opinion - not bad, corny in spots (Durge, the Gladiator Beasts, Kit Fisto, the whole Biker War, the Gunships dropping through the atmosphere apparently with the sides open) but really good in others (Dooku frying Assajj, the animation during Ani's space battle). Animation style fine for SW. Good voices and sound, not great in the characterization dept, especially Obi Wan. I'm not sure I'm down with the whole cocky Obi Wan thing ("You were right about one thing, Master. The Negotations WERE short" etc), it doesn't seem to fit with the classic character.

Definitely worth watching the other 10 episodes, but no more "canon" in my eyes than Shadows of the Empire.

this show was okay i guess not as good as sigma six or the batman, those shows are the shiz for real real, not for play play.

So I just replaced my DVD of these same chapters, having lent it to one of my football players back in Nanaimo. Taking another look at them on my hdtv, they hold up VERY well. If you haven't watched these initial short CW episodes since they came out, and you've upgraded your av stuff at all... have another look. The chapter with Barriss & Luminara was unbelievable.

Oddly enough, I did just watch these a few months ago. And yeah, they do hold up pretty well. They are very kinetic. The live action prequels should have had a pace like this.
