Deadly Genesis 3. At first, I thought since this was the 25th anniversary of the Giant Sized X-Men new international team, i thought maybe Brubaker had resurected Thunderbird as the new villain. Brubaker is all about resurecting long dead heroes and turning them into villains. But now after reading these short backup stories at the end of the issues, here's my new theory.

Inspired by Prof X and his X-Men, I think back in the day Moira MacTaggert recruited her own team of mutant teenage adventurers. When the original team went missing on Krakoa, Xavier turned to Moira and "borrowed" her team with disastrous, deadly results. So I think this new villain is the lone survivor of that debacle. We shall see. And since Brubaker is taking over the Uncanny X-Men in a few months, I might start buying again.

I'm as happy with Astonishing X-Men as I was with Morrison's New X-Men. It's absolutely perfect - right down to the lettering. Beween this and New Avengers, I'm geeking right out Marvel geek-wise.

The only thing that sucks about Astonishing is the last page. Like, when you get to the last page, you want to keep reading, but you have to wait a goddamn month ( or two more likely) to read more. That sucks.

The only thing you could do is try to forget the book exists, then save them up for a year or so and read the whole batch. Or, you could wait forever to get a collected edition - again pretty much having to forget the book is being produced. Good luck with that, though.

For anyone considering NOT getting the new Wolverine Origins book - consider this as well: it's being done by the same creative team responsible for the Nighthawk limited series, Daniel Way and Steve Dillon. I wouldn't miss this book for the world, and I don't think you guys should either.

I'll definitely pick up the first few issues. They need to make Logan tough as nails vicious killer though. Warm 'n' fuzzy Wolvie is starting to grate on my nerves.

I don't foresee that being an issue, EP. I'm expecting balls to the grindstone violence - and I don't think either one of those creators is capable of providing anything less.

I'm probably a little TOO wound up about it, really, I don't know if it can live up to my expectations... but I sure hope it can.

I may be late, but Astonishing 14 was, well, astonishing I guess. I'm SO happy this book is back up and running.

Are you referring to the new one, or the classic Larry Hama-penned issue with Cable, Jubilee, and Sabretooth suddenly flipping out and deciding he's Wolvie's dad?

Although that was one a classic also, the new one is instant vintage Wolverine. And to understand what that means you need to go buy it, read it, cherish it.

Does Chris Claremont have a lifetime contract with Marvel that states that every new shitty idea he comes up with automatically gets turned into a cancellation waiting to happen? And then he feels the need to stick all his shitty creations in them that nobody cares about. NOBODY CARES about your stupid fucking Callisto with the flailing green octopus arms. Or Lila Cheney. These characters sucked 25 years ago. STOP WRITING ABOUT THEM!!!! Now he's taking over my beloved Exiles. And they just killed Morph ( or turned him evil) so that one two punch is enough to drive a man away from his monthly rags. Exiles + Claremont - Morph = Sucktasticness beyond description.

Ummm, the new one - well at least it was the new one last week at the comic shop. Sounds like #42 came out though.
