Re: A Song Of Ice And Fire
I haven't read your last bit of spoiler but I remember the passage about him getting the baby on the fisherman's daughter/wife or whatever during the rebellion as they were fleeing back to some place via boat - it actually snapped me to attention as I was kind of skimming or something at that point, I had to go back & make sure I got what I was reading. I can really imagine that you catch a lot re-reading - the dream sequences & stuff as you mentioned before must mean so much more when you know what's coming down the pike.
EDITED: I gave up & read the spoilers. Holy poodoo, it must be. Wasn't Robert in love with Lyanna though? I need to consult the wiki about Lyanna & Rhaegar to get some clarity about them.

I'm just gonna keep posting Grimlock so take a good look at my nuts, they'll be on your rusty metal lips here shortly.
This is a beautiful map I just found whilst looking for something showing the layout of the 9 free cities. Worth a look or even a save to your hd in my opinion.

Sadly I can't take credit for that one, Jodi & I saw it on King of Queens a long time ago & we have laughed about it ever since.

Is Dance with Dragons out in paperback?
I thought I saw somewhere that was, but split into 2 books. Amazon wasn't real clear.

Well shit. I haven't seen them in stores with the others so I assumed they weren'r out and wouldn't be out for a while yet.
I'll have to stop at a store tomorrow.

If they're actually out, nobody in my area has them. I'm starting to think they're not and they were pushed back.

Could be. I just got that info off Harpers website. Truthfully, you could probably find the hardcover at a discount store for roughly the same price as two paperbacks.

Re: A Song Of Ice And Fire
Amazon only has the two paperbacks used, though they came out in March. Only one edition of each, with nothing else listed. If only one were unavailable, I'd assume they were sold out and offering used copies, but, with both of them gone, it makes me wonder if they were taken out of print already.
I noticed a lot of pissed reviews about Part II, apparently people who pre-ordered thinking it was a new book only to find it was the second half of the latest book. Maybe that has something to do with it. I can't find much of anything about it.

Re: A Song Of Ice And Fire
I saw a March 2013 release date somewhere else. I'm almost thinking there were a few reasons for these ones to disappear, like the popularity of the books/series (make more $ on the hardcover) and people being pissed about the book being split (the later one was $18 for the entire paperback.

Re: A Song Of Ice And Fire
Feeling like a jackass, I've finally fucking finished A Storm of Swords.
And yes, it has been months (and months) since I started this mother fucker.
My retardedly slow progress aside, I both loved and hated the book (much like the first two).
Great reads, but GRRM never fails to kick you in the balls emotionally.
One thing that annoyed me was the constant talk of the red comet early in the book, then it annoyed me that it was all but dropped (a minor mention here and there), like GRRM forgot about it.
I do find it amazing how you can flip-flop between hating a character and liking them (Littlefinger and Jaime come to mind). Great writing.
(Spoiler tags for possible future readers)
The "RW" was devastating.
I expected more from Joffrey's death, but it was still great to see. Now only if his bitch mother would follow suit.
The battle at the Wall should be amazing when it hits tv. And I pretty much saw what happened to Jon Snow coming, being named Lord Commander, but it was still awesome.
I did not see Catelyn coming back. Holy shit!
Tyrion killing Tywin was pretty badass.
All the revelations about Daenery's crew were shocking.
Gonna go ahead a read a couple of other (hopefully) shorter reads before getting on with A Feast for Crows.
