I saw Ackbar and thought, "Wonder if that's the Revenge card?" It was. I then thought, "That's nice."

That's got to be the dumbest packaging variation I've ever seen. "Hey, it looks like a card from a movie that never existed!!"

I don't have a problem with it. Its less disruptive than making exclusive figures or other things they've done in the past. Still wished I could have got that one build-a-droid completed (the droid from Jabba's palace that only came in the TRU wave).

I think those parts have come way down on ebay R2. Get the droid name/number from Rebelscum photo archives & have a look. If you're not comfortable buying on there I'm willing to help out - just let me know.

Very few new classic items shown so far at the New York Comicon. I'm excited to see the rest of the Sandstorm cut scene figures coming, as well as the new Hoth Luke and the Imperial Navy Commander.... but that's about it. In case anyone isn't inclined to seek out the photos, I'll link them - as well as a good breakdown of what's coming & what it means (props to yakface):

RebelsCum pics (third link is the presentation, likely the most valuable):

http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/NY ... 141141.asp

http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/NY ... 141145.asp

http://rebelscum.com/story/front/NYCC_F ... 141154.asp

Yakface breakdown:

http://yakfaceforums.com/main/2011/10/1 ... breakdown/

So essentially there will be 55 Vintage Collection figures this year, 31 of which are confirmed. Of those 31 I will be seeking:

- 5 figures from wave 2 (all ROTJ deleted scenes figures: Luke, Leia, Lando, Colonel Cracken & Mon Cal pilot)
- 2 figures from wave 3 (Hoth Luke, Imperial Navy Commander)
- 3 figures from wave 4 (all initially set for release last year: Wedge, Kithaba & Dr Evazan)

The majority of other "new" figures from this line will be EpI, the remainder are EU. Passity pass pass (although I might scoop Ben Quadrinaros, Daultay Dofine & the other new podracers if no one is looking - but I will not admit this to anyone).

The Movie Heroes line replaces Saga Legends and will include ALL NEW figures (action feature type stuff, light up sabers & whatnot). Easy passes for me.

I'll get the Hoth Luke, Navy Commander, Wedge Antilles, Kithaba, & Dr. Evazan. Maybe the exclusive Tusken Raider, too, after I see pictures.

Are the "Fighter Pods" just Star wars Squinkies?

I dunno. I dunno what the appeal of Squinkies is, either. Anarky Jr saw them one time at someone's house and goes apeshit about them every time she sees them. They're so small, I'm surprised it's legal to sell them to kids.

I found several of the new figures today at Target. The B-Wing Pilot looks dull for $9. He'd be awesome for $6, but $9 is really, really pushing it. (I still haven't gotten the TRU Endor pilot multipacks; doubt I ever will.) Same with the Hoth Rebel Trooper, though he almost made it home. If not for the one that was in the 3-pack that I got for him and 2-1B, I would've gotten him. Not sure why they changed the picture; I thought the whole point was making the cards look like the original Vintage cards.

Didn't give a shit about the Revenge of the Jedi cardbacks; that's a stupid-ass gimmick as they never existed. Gree I think was new; how many fucking Grees have we gotten? It's taken over a decade to get a decent Evazan, but we've gotten more Grees in that time than I have testicles. Bastilla Shan, meh. Don't give a shit. The stupid "FIRST EVAR FIGURE!!!11!!!!" sticker looks ridiculous on her. They didn't have Nom Anor, who I can't wait to get my hands on, and he probably has the same snigtarded sticker.

Ponda Baba came really, really close to coming home. The figure looks SWEET, and this is coming from a guy who was thinking until this afternoon that there have been too many Pondas already. But those asscheeks on his face were painted wrong; if he were properly-scaled, one would've been a full six inches too low. I hope he's not like the Luke from a few years ago where almost every one was painted wrong. For $9, I want him to be perfect.

I said the same thing about that Rebel Hoth Trooper card, but apparently that photo WAS used at one point, for the Commander figure or something. Nice fuck up, Hasbro. ><

EDITED: though in much searching I cannot find any carded vintage figures bearing that photo. Even better. ><

This Gree started seeing release back in February in wave 5. It's a repack of the 2008 version, which was all-new and done to replace the quickly-made 2005 version (which was just a repaint of the existing clone trooper figure). So there have been two Grees over three releases.

The sticker, you should probably be able to take off of the package... then again, you're an opener, so why do you care?

The image on the Rebel Trooper (Echo Base Battle Gear) is new to this figure. There's a lot of good ol' SW convolution going on here:
*This figure is generally considered to be an update to the 1980s Rebel Trooper (Hoth Battle Gear).
*This 2011 figure is an accurate representation of Echo Base officers and personnel.
*The 1980s figure is an inaccurate mash-up of two different kinds of Hoth Rebels. It sculpt is based on the white-clad troopers in the trenches and throughout Echo Base, very similar to the 1980s Rebel Commander figure. Its color is changed to match the other characters with the brown vests.
*The card images on both the 1980s Rebel Trooper and Rebel Commander figure show Rebels in all-white outfits, meaning it is accurate to the Rebel Commander figure but not the Rebel Trooper.
*So even though the 2011 figure appears similar to the 1980s one (and the connection is pointed out on the back of the card), it is in fact the first proper representation of this outfit, and the card image reflects this.
Shit. I can't think of a good signature.

Thanks for the info MR. JJ. Can't find where I bitched about that card photo & was told it was a less-common vintage photo, but I'm seeing now that was hooey anyways. Good to know we'll never get the classic Hoth Rebel Trooper card at this point. :x

Went to Target/Walmart hoping to find Walrusman. No luck. Target didn't have any new regular figures, but they had the tauntaun and landspeeder in their vintage boxes, and a Hoth battlepack with Han, trooper, and tauntaun.

No Serenity DVD either. :frus:

I don't really care about the sticker, JJL. It's just cheap-looking and kinda ugly. And, really, who out there wants a figure from a 5-year-old (?) XBox-only game that isn't going to realize this is the first time she's been made?

Seriously, though, they probably should've released her, the HK droid(s?), Darth Cobra Commander, and Darth Skeletor around the same time.

The really goddamned annoying thing about that poll is they say the one vote is for a "Mara Jade Skywalker: Jedi." Which has never been made. And she was the primo EU character until Clone Wars and Ahsoka Cyrus.

Only the picture is for her in the Emperor's Hand uniform. Which was made twice. So, even if they actually know what people want, they're doing a shitty job of communicating this.

Even though I'd be just as happy to get modern versions of the last few vintage figures (Sim Aloo, Nikto, Death Squad Commander), I voted for Sgt. Doallyn. Based on what I'm reading I think the odds of him finally getting a figure are pretty good.

Jaxxon all the way.

BTW, to put my mini-rant above in proper context, imagine that we wanted Princess Leia in the white gown, but Hasbro had never made her. They'd made multiples of every other possible Leia, but not the main one from ANH. Then they do a poll, and "Princess Leia: White Gown" makes the finals. They have an entry for "Princess Leia: White Gown" on the poll, but show a picture of her in slave gear. So you don't know for sure what the hell you're voting for if you pick that.
