Yeah, it was for anything except Lego.

Of course, after visiting several Targets and only picking up army builders that Saturday (and similarly striking out at TRU, which had a BOGO 50% off sale), I found the ROTJ deleted scene wave (I already had Cracken) and the new TPM Movie Heroes wave . . . at Walmart. $50 would have been much nicer than $100, but oh well.

You dropped $100 on Star Wars figures!?!

Oh wait, that's only like 6 or 7 figures these days.

I found most of the deleted scenes wave. Only once (twice, counting the time the assholes at Wal-Mart refused to sell me Cracken). I would pass on Luke, but still want Lando. Not losing any sleep over not having him, but it would be nice to have the full set of sandstorm figures.

Ten figures, but yeah, it's getting a little nutty.

My visits to read the star wars news on rebels cum are becoming less and less frequent. Their news page has pictures of Dr. Evazan. Is that wave showing up now?

Yup. The Evazan wave (2012 wave 4) is showing up online and at Walmart, with two different case assortments, one of which has the Gamorrean Guard and the other of which has Wedge. The Darth Malgus wave (2012 wave 3) is supposedly shipping right now as well, though I think people have only got it from online stores.

It's like saying Snigtad Flornbi three times. You should never say Snigtad Flornbi three times, because Snigtad Flornbi shows up.

Oh, fuck.

The deleted scenes figures and the wave with Malgus & Hoth Luke has shown up here. I got Luke & the Imp Navy commander, also got black Endor Trooper. Just need Hoth Rebel & the deleted scenes figures to be as close to caught up as I care to be.

rebeltwats and galacticdouche are screaming about chewbacca and dr evazan variants like hyperactive queens at a prada sale. It's a fucking paint error. it got corrected. so it's a running change. How many years have those sites been going now and they still sound like they're run by people who masturbate watching the disney channel. I only go there for the pictures galleries so I can keep my files up to date. I'd love to pork that smug self satisfied asclown Adam Pawlus with a 12 bore shotgun...

I do my part. (Also I have pretty much nothing to contribute to any of the other toy threads, the comic threads, etc., so I just respond to this one more.)

People used to freak the fuck out for variations, but now they're more like curiosities. Like, I wish I'd waited to get the short-neck variation of the Weequay Skiff Master, but it hadn't been released when I first found the figure, so whatever. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. I didn't really consider getting the TCW Chewie variant until Target's 50% off sale, just because it looked a hell of a lot better than the blackface version from late last year. I noticed that it had the slit in his skirt thing, but the fact that it took anyone this long to mention it shows how little it really matters in the scheme of things.

I don't mind Adam Pawlus' coverage, and I read his weekly Q&A. The guy at Jedi Temple Archives is much more along the lines of the hyperbolic, overreacting nutjob in my mind, either declaring everything amazing or apocalyptic.

I'm gonna update this list of unmade vintage figures, because fuck you is why. New info is in bold. I'm doing so because I just saw this photo:
Image
Which features two on-the-fence figures.

On The Fence
*Death Squad Commander - The same outfit has been made in black, but never gray. It seems that the gray costume is either a trick of the light or a one-off background character; nevertheless, we don't have a gray version of this outfit, nor one with the cord like on the cardback photo. The current Imperial Navy Commander uses a variation of this cardback, but is the same old black-suited figure they've made twice before. If they were going to make a gray version, I think now would have been the time, so I'm not going to hold my breath on this one.
*Death Star Droid - We have a shiny black one from 1998, a matte tan repaint from the 2004 sandcrawler (re-released in Saga Legends in 2007), a painted (somewhat shiny) purple one from a 2007 Comic Pack with Boba Fett, a matte silver build-a-droid from the 2008 ROTS wave, and a matte black build-a-droid from the 2008 repaint wave. I consider the silver build-a-droid to be an update to the vintage figure, even though the tan version is a more accurate representation of the sandcrawler droid that the vintage figure seemed to want to represent. The silver version is coming in that Target set, being sold as a whole figure for the first time. So, I think this one is basically updated enough.
*Power Droid - There are a number of GONK droid designs in the films, and there has been one sculpt in the modern line that has been repainted and/or modified, making three versions. None of them are blue or have the same exact design from the vintage version. The one in the Target set is similar in its overall light brown color to the release from the Battlefront II set from 2007/2008, but the details are different enough to not be a straight repack. They could have easily painted this one blue and called it a day, but god knows why they didn't. It could be that Hasbro sees the vintage Power Droid as a bizarre Kenner color choice, and that the more modern ones are suitable, accurate substitutes.
*Bespin Security Guard (white) - None of the modern versions have a mustache.
*Rebel Commander - Now generally called something like Hoth Rebel Trooper, none of the modern versions have just a mustache, though some do have a goatee.
*Sy Snootles - We have a Special Edition version, but not a 1983 version with feather and tusks. I sincerely doubt they'll do a pre-Special Edition version. She's appeared in The Clone Wars as basically a hybrid of her two looks - no tusks, but a feather on a headpiece - but they'll never make her, unless they packed her in a Ziro the Hutt set that would make my balls explode.

Coming Soon
*Lumat - All retcon bullshit aside, we're getting an update to the vintage Lumat this year.

Completely Unmade
*Imperial Dignitary - The vintage character is Sim Aloo. The two dignitaries we've gotten are Kren Blista-Vanee and Janus Greejatus.

Since this post last year, updates to Rebel Soldier (Hoth Battle Gear), Barada/Kithaba, and the original Nikto have all been released. Whether or not anyone can find them is a different story, but there it is.

Didn't the Major "Cliff Clavin" figure count as the mustached Hoth Rebel? I have no idea what the Lumat retcon stuff is about.

I'm kind of surprised Target is continuing with those 3-packs because they always seem to end up on clearance.

I believe I'm caught up on all the stuff I intended on getting except for Wedge.
