Re: star wars
Anyone else see the Sail Barge "petition" as a sort of dick move by Hasbro?
"You say you want a Sail Barge? Sign the petition to let us know! Not like everyone and their brother has been literally begging for it for almost twenty fucking years or anything. We'll just see how this big-ass boring piece of shit Episode I vehicle does to test the waters first...."

Re: star wars
It's not by Hasbro, even remotely. It's started by the fan sites, even though, as you said, Hasbro is fully aware that we want one, so it might just end up being a well-intentioned waste of time.
Shit. I can't think of a good signature.

Oh, well, shit. Scratch the "dick move by Hasbro," but it seems like even more a waste of time now.

Re: star wars
That said, I think it could be interesting if Hasbro would actually do something like Mattel is doing for the Castle Greyskull playset (and presumably others have done for other things) and take people's pre-orders before committing to making something like a Sail Barge or a Death Star, so fans can actually put their money where their mouths are instead of bitching about wanting something and then not actually buying it when it comes out.
Shit. I can't think of a good signature.

Or allow a smaller third party take the initiative and risk to produce those high-end products for fans who are willing to fork over the cash to get them. Without legal bullying from Hasbro and Lucas.

Re: star wars
I would rather see a Death Star or Jabba's Palace play sets than the Sail Barge. Or better yet, finish the Cantina.

Re: star wars
Some company made an officially licensed vintage-style display stand some time within the past ten years that could fit the Hasbro figures, so there is precedent here. It was pretty expensive, as I recall, probably due to its small run, so I think that would be a similar issue with other low-run items.RoIIo Tomassi wrote:Or allow a smaller third party take the initiative and risk to produce those high-end products for fans who are willing to fork over the cash to get them. It seems that Hasbro's "no playsets" line from Q&As of days past have deterred most people from asking about them, but a Death Star would be pretty sweet and it sounds like Hasbro has been looking at how to do such an item off and on - the ANH 3D release would probably be the last great shot at it, or maybe the 40th anniversary (as Hasbro's current license expires in 2020, seemingly extended from the previously given 2018 date).Ran wrote:I would rather see a Death Star or Jabba's Palace play sets than the Sail Barge. There were rumors about build-a-cantina modules on the RebelsCum forums, but there are rumors about everything on there, so who knows. I still want the damn distillery - the cardboard backdrops I have in there ain't cuttin' it.

Re: star wars
Yeah, I remember the no play set rule. I'm just not that interested in the Sail Barge.
I'm having trouble thinking of other OT vehicles I'd buy. I'd probably get the Sandcrawler if they ever re-released it. Kind of wish I got the Endor Bunker way back in the POTF2 days, but I'm not going to dwell on that one. I don't recall ever seeing one outside of the box or why I didn't get it back then.
I have:
X-wing (POTF2 and Wedge's)
Snowspeeder (Rogue II version)
B-Wing
A-wings (POTF2 and Saga versions)
Y-wing (from TRU last year)
Millennium Falcon (Saga)
Vader's TIE (POTF2)
AT-AT (POTF2 and the big one)
AT-ST (POTJ)
TIE Fighter (Some small wing version and large wing version with the red cockpit that I never gave Slicker)
Imperial Shuttle
Luke's Landspeeder (2 of them)
Skiff
Slave I (SOTE version)
The some of the older molds of ships (like the X-Wing, Slave I, the TIE, and the Falcon) don't bother me since they are based on the vintage versions I had as a kid. I should probably consider getting the K-Mart AT-ST. The POTJ version isn't that great and it barely stands by itself. Is it worth it to upgrade?

Jesus Fucking Christ, Ran!!
I can't believe you don't have the Cruisemissile Trooper! And you call yourself a human being?
Fuck, it's like I don't want to bring myself down to the same level as you, so I need to find another site to post my neuroses to.

Yes, it is a glaring hole in my collection. At least I have a carded crowd control stormtrooper. One day I hope to retire on the money I get from it from selling it on ebay.

Re: star wars
I like it. I've read that some people have issues making it stand, but if you pose the legs correctly then it works fine. Of the three releases of the new AT-ST - light gray and dusty brown from Walmart in 2009, light gray and snowy white from Target in 2010, and now properly gray with muddy feet, greasy weathering, and Tempest 2 blast damage (making it the most accurate version of the one Chewie hijacks), the Kmart one is visually the best by far.Ran wrote:I should probably consider getting the K-Mart AT-ST. Re: star wars
It just occurred to me that I don't need the new vintage Wedge figure since I have the Wedge figure that came with the X-Wing from Target.
Has there been any signs of new figures shipping to any stores? The newest things I've seen were the "lost" wave at KMart and Toys R Us.
