Those new 12" Anakins and Clonetroopers that are showing up in stores now look horrible. They have similar toys for the Marvel line. The Spiderman actually remidned me of a Spiderman toy I had back in the late 70s. In a way, it was so bad, it was almost cool.

As for the comment, I hope I'm wrong, but.... There's a new line with an MSRP of $6, geared toward kids, with all main characters, and, uh, five points of articulation. I'm rather concerned, because they're the same size as the regular figures, at half the cost. Regardless of what Hasbro or collectors want, the retailers are going to look at them and say, "Hmmm... same footprint as the $11 line, half the cost, all main characters, and probably a quicker turnaround." At least some peg space is destined to be lost to this new line.
Combine that with the new Black Series line, which Hasbro is hyping as being for collectors while the new Saga Legends line is for kids, and some stores (being kinda head-up-ass when it comes to this stuff) might say, "Hmm, why the hell do we need this middle line?" and not realize it's the "real" one.
Oh, and the figures include fucking Darth Vader and Yavin Ceremony Luke resculpts. So what little space is left for them will be clogged with shit really quickly.
I don't think peg space will be lost to it, since Saga Legends is effectively replacing Movie Heroes AND The Clone Wars. Hopefully The Black Series will be able to sell as well as The Vintage Collection did - though it doesn't look as good packaged as TVC, it sounds like Hasbro won't be over-releasing the first wave (hopefully they fucking finally figured that one out), so hopefully people will actually be able to find and buy the figures this year. I know you personally don't want any more Vaders, but he still sells through every time he's released - even the shitstain Movie Heroes figure moved faster than most of the others - so he's not really risky at all. And everyone bitched about the last Yavin Luke, so it's not that surprising that they're releasing another six years later.
For those that were still getting the Target Special Action Figure three-packs, Hasbro mentioned to the twat at Jedi Temple Archives that Target doesn't want any more of them, probably because they sell like shit. I can't stand the fucker who writes for that site, and several of his points from his reports contradict each other and he says he was too tired to remember some things, so he could be wrong. I was actually enjoying getting that line carded, but 11 of them ain't bad, I suppose. Maybe someone else will pick them up in the future.
I believe I read somewhere that the 12" figures are mainly targeted at the South American market, since they're popular there, but there's an issue with the accessories getting stolen (or something) so they're sculpted into the characters' hands. They look like turds to us collectors, but I can't really fault Hasbro for trying to make products that aren't prohibitively expensive for kids.

Are these the Vintage 3-packs that had one new figure like Zutton/Zutmore (or one figure who was damned hard to find before, like the second Hoth Trooper)? Some of those were quite nice. But everyone knew that they'd go on clearance. Hell, I saw several of the Droid ones--THE DROID ONES, WITH A NEW FUCKING POWER DROID AND A SILVER RA-7!!--for less than eight bucks today.
I picked up Qui-Gon for $3. I couldn't remember if I'd gotten him and not opened him. Sad, isn't it? But I figured better to get him and find I already have him, and return or regift him. I also got a second Naboo guard at that price for custom fodder. Those Joe heads get a little repetitive when everyone looks like Duke, y'know.

Yeah, those are the packs. They weren't super exciting, and Hasbro probably overestimated demand, but it would have been nice to complete the ones made in the vintage line.
Qui-Gon is a repack from the 2008 Evolution set that had NJO Luke and AOTC Bultar Swan (not the armored version) and has been released a few times since then in various sets and things, so you might already have him.

I might be ordering a few things from Amazon in the near future. I'm definitely getting the Weequay and Lumat. Three questions:
1. Is Nein Numb worth getting?
2. They have the Assault on the Shield Generator battle pack that has R2, Han, rebel in scout trooper disguise, and an Imperial officer. It is a bit over $30 after shipping. Any thoughts on this set? I mostly want it for the rebel and the officer.
3. One WM here in town still has the Dewback, and it is marked down to $21. Amazon has it for $24 with free shipping. WM's website still has it for $30. What Sandtrooper fits on it? Also, I don't want to get both the battle pack and the dewback. Just one or the other...which one would you pick?
Oh, and I got the droid set from Target for $7.50. Haven't seen the other set at that price. Don't need another Boba Fett, but Snaggletooth and the Tusken Raider would be nice.

The Weequay and Lumat are both awesome figures. Some of the joints on the Weequay are miscolored but it's not that bad.
1. I thought for sure I wrote about Nien Nunb somewhere recently, but now I can't find it . . . Basically, the figure is too short - as seen in the background, he's supposed to be normal human height since he's sometimes played by a normal-height human in a costume and sometimes by a puppet, but someone along the EU line decided he's supposed to be short so here we are. His lower lip is supposed to be a darker color but is left the same tone as the rest of his head. Apart from those issues, and in and of itself, it's a really fun figure with lots of personality. His pistol is based on the one from the vintage figure and the rifle is based on the one from the POTF2 figure, so it has fun nods to collecting past.
2. I quite like that set. Han had a then-new head sculpt that looks better than a lot of other Han heads (which has since been reissued on the 2011 Vintage Collection Endor trench coat Han, which was also available in those commemorative Blu-ray four-packs). R2 is the VOTC/Early Bird one yet again, but I like the removable sparks/spazzed-out tools effect. It might take a minute of futzing but it looks cool after that. The officer is supposed to be Lt. Renz, the "You rebel scum" guy, though his belt is different since it's just a repaint of the 2006 Moff Jerjerrod with a new head. The disguised rebel is Nik Sant, the old bearded guy, though his beard is more blonde than white and his head is a little small but overall he's cool. I wouldn't suggest overpaying for the set but if you can get it for a reasonable price then I'd say go for it. I have all the figures displayed near the POTF2 shield bunker set and it makes a nice little Endor setup (though I have several other figures around it as well).
3. The Dewback was originally packed with the Sandtrooper that was later repacked in the Vintage Collection - the all-white sandtrooper that has no dirt or battle damage but had ball-joint hips. The figure was later repainted with dirt and an orange pauldron (among other cool new accessories) in one of the last Vintage Collection waves - available in regular or blue "lost line" looks - that was pretty easily available a few months ago but seems to have now dried up. I haven't tried other Sandtroopers on it but I think you'd be safest with the ball-jointed hip ones. The Dewback is cool, but it's the greener, more angular TPM model, not the ANH one, if that matters to you. Technically the 1997 one is still more accurate to ANH, though its sculpt looks outdated. Overall I kind of like the Shield Generator Assault set more, but it's your call.
Also, JJR, I'll be PMing you shortly as apparently the cancelled USA figures are showing up in Canada.

Thanks, JJL. I was leaning towards the battlepack over the dewback. Over the years I've figured out that you can't always trust the pictures and just need to see things in person.
Which cancelled figures are showing up in Canada? I went over to the other site, but didn't see anything, but I did see your note about this year's Kmart Ewok set. I was wondering about that one.

It's just the final waves of Clone Wars and Movie Heroes. The Clone Wars has slightly new versions of Ani, Obi, Rex, R2, and a Battle Droid, plus a clone repaint. Nothing too amazing but stuff I want anyway. Movie Heroes has light-up lightsaber ROTS Anakin, an exploding maroon Battle Droid (who was also supposed to be released in tan and slipped out a little overseas), and the sandtrooper with the light-up blaster. A Boba repack with a new jetpack was also released alongside the tan Battle Droid overseas. Only TCW figures have shown up in Canada so far.
Almost nothing is known about the Kmart Ewok catapult set yet but I'm sure it won't take long.

Rebelscum had a link to another site that claims these are upcoming figures:
Our Research Droids broke into Walmart's inventory system and found a most impressive list of upcoming action figures. Please note the first figure in the list. It's a new reveal.

[NEW ANNOUNCEMENT!!!] Theed Hangar Pilot (?) – a new announcement exclusive for this post. The name is cut off, but any other ideas of who this figure could be?
Vizam – a long-awaited update and answer to prayer for ROTJ fans.
Darth Plageuis – clearly listed as an Expanded Universe figure which Hasbro claimed they wouldn't do for the Black Series until they saw how successful the line was. Interesting!
Stormtrooper (Episode IV) – please note that both Stormtrooper and Sandtrooper are listed here. Since Hasbro has stated that The Black Series would consist of new tooling (save for the cancelled Legacy Collection 2 carry-forwards), this could be an all-new definitive sculpt finally!
Sandtrooper (Episode IV) – please note that both Stormtrooper and Sandtrooper are listed here. This is likely the Sandtrooper (Corporal).
Clone Trooper (41st Elite Corps) – it is still unknown if this is actually the 212th Attack Battalion update. If not, this could be an all-new take on either the Kashyyyk Trooper or the Coruscant Landing Platform Clone Trooper.
Commander Neyo – logic dictates that this is Commander Neyo and NOT Commander Ney as listed.
Merumeru – FINALLY!
Mace Windu (The Clone Wars) – confirmed for release
Battle Droid (Episode II) – confirmed for release
Luke Skywalker (Jedi Training) – Yes! A super-articulated update to the fabulous 2004 OTC figure!
Yoda (Jedi Training) – Yes! A super-articulated update to the fabulous 2004 OTC figure!
Wedge Antilles (Snowspeeder Outfit) – This may sport a lot of new tooling too since the 2008 TLC tooling/sculpt needs a refresh and the Luke Skywalker outfit is unique for Luke.
Darth Vader (Episode III) – could this be the "crispy Anakin" they've been hinting about?
Snowtrooper – This is likely a Snowtrooper Commander as denoted by the cut-off "C". If this is true, then Hasbro is proving and sincere that The Black Series will contain new figures and not any repacks.
Toryn Farr – excuse us while the grown men here go and cry.
There are actually 6 or 7 that I actually interested in. Hopefully they make it to stores this time.

Apparently some Wookie. Not one of the ones I care about.
And why they are making yet another Battle Droid is beyond me. There are still a ton of them on the pegs here (along with the rest of the TPM wave).

He's one of the more interesting-looking Wookiee Warriors.
Trouble is, this is all later waves. Wave 1 is Biggs, Ceremonial Luke, Vader, and Arena Padme, and they all look like shit.

I had to look up the image for those. The Biker Scout is kind of cool, but I don't need another one. The rest I could live without. Why does Hasbro give so much attention to Biggs? He seems to have a lot of figures considering how much of a presence he had in ANH.

Those are new figures? I can't tell anymore. They all look the same.
As far as I can tell, by looking at the store, they haven't made a new figure in 3 years.
Why does Vader have a giant flower in his extra hand?

It is from an EU story that takes place right after ANH. Vader knows the Emperor is pissed that the Death Star was destroyed. So, stops and gets flowers knowing ole Palpatine won't stay mad at him very long with a nice bouquet.
