Here's where I start having some major issues.
I don't have Get Rich or Die Tryin', The Eminem Show, or Confessions, and don't want them. It's not the genre, it's that these artists are hopelessly generic.
I also don't have Elvis at Sun, because I have The Complete 50s Masters. Five discs of everything is better than one disc when it comes to The King.
The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, Devil Without a Cause, and Life After Death -- I can see them being in the top 200, but the rankings here are way too generous.
No Jacket Required -- How frigging dated can you get? I haven't listened to anything by Mr Collins except "In the Air Tonight" in well over a decade.
Hell Freezes Over -- WTF? I like the Eagles as much as anyone (despite a lack of the Hotel California album), and this is a great live album, but no way should it be top 200.
American Idiot, Toys in the Attic, Van Halen, All Things Must Pass, A Rush of Blood to the Head, Born in the USA, Moondance -- Way too low, given some of the stuff that's already appeared. (Meaning I could accept the rankings if the stuff that ranked higher was actually all better stuff.)
Pieces of You -- I actually listened to this for the first time in quite a while a few weeks ago, and I'd forgotten how good it is. But Jewel thinks anything she writes is great, and there's unfortunately as much filler here as greatness. If it had been trimmed to about half the length, it would be a much, much better album.

This time, I have fewer of the choices. I don't have Off the Wall, Let's Get It On, Graceland, 1999, Control, Country Grammar, Human Clay, London Calling, Falling into You, or Dirty Dancing. And, well, my wife has Breathe, so unfortunately, I sort of have it.
To include Nelly and Creed in this list is an unforgiveable insult to the other artists. Period.
Faith Hill -- Well, we already had Shania. Why include Shania Lite? (Unless they're gonna lez out, which would be kewl.)
Coltrane: A Love Supreme -- Great album, but I would've picked Giant Steps instead. In either case, pre-rock music.
Linkin Park: Hybrid Theory -- Good album, but hardly Top 200 material.
Matchbox 20 -- One of two albums on the list I would never have bought, but my brother left at home when he moved out once, and he forgot he had them. (If he ever asks, I'll give them back.) Far too generic pop to be Top 200.
Celine Dion -- Ugh, I hate her. Mabs, you and JJ can have her. Admittedly, she has an awesome voice. But she is totally lacking in soul. I don't understand the appeal. She sings the way a surgeon cuts someone open; it's totally textbook and not from the heart. Aretha or Etta could kick her ass. (Speaking of which, where are At Last and I've Never Loved a Man the Way that I Love You?)
Dirty Dancing -- Some good oldies, and some pretty forgettable late 80s pop. No way in hell would I consider it essential. I had a taped copy of both Dirty Dancing soundtracks at one point, and I've never bothered to upgrade to CD. Eventually, maybe, since some of the oldies are tough to track down otherwise. I could go the rest of my life without hearing Patrick Swayze sing again.
Dixie Chicks: Home -- This is about the right spot, but I still say Wide Open Spaces shouldn't have been included earlier.
Cash at Folsom -- Ho boy. This is my biggest single gripe with the whole list. The Man in Black doesn't show up until #77, and then it's At Folsom? Okay, At Folsom may be one of the best live albums ever recorded, but, dude, ever hear of a little record called American Recordings? Maybe one of the old ones, like The Fabulous Johnny Cash? I'll go ahead and spoil the surprise and tell you that this is the only Cash album on the list (and only one of the other three Highwaymen has any albums on here, for that matter). What the fuck, you ask? Me too. If I were to make a list of the 200 "Essential" Albums, at least five or six would be by Mr Cash. Suck my cock, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Fucking leaving off American Recordings and including motherfucking Celine Dion instead.

No worries about the speed of posting, I have VERY littl;e to actually "say" about lists like this- I might own maybe 10 off the whole list, and most of the more important music I can think of will NOT appear...
Even Bob Marley : Exodus, I can't stand it, give me the actual groundbreaking rocksteady-reggae transitional music, all the fuckin King Tubbys shit that was actually totally amazing, both for the music itself AND the scene that produced it
if you guys ever all come over to my house for a party, I will be guarding the CD player is all I have to add

Yes, when I think rock n roll I think Kenny G.! \m/107) Kenny G: Breathless (1992)
I'd like to see Johnny Rotten and Celine in a steel cage. We'll see who's better. How do 60% of the albums before this qualify as "better"? Man o man. This list keeps getting better and better, Chux.109) Sex Pistols: Never Mind The Bollocks (1977)
I'm surprised it took this long for this POS to show up.111) Radiohead: O.K. Computer (1993)
"Sorry modern American standard. We're gonna go ahead and slip Eminem and the Dixie Chicks in twice before we get to you. k thx ttyl lol"112) Simon & Garfunkel: Bridge Over Trouble Water (1970)

Tom Petty: Full Moon Fever -- Took way too long for this guy to show up. This album rules.
103) Soundtrack: Titanic -- My wife has this one, too, sadly. I have no idea why. I love a good score, and even love most of John Horner's work, but this one blows.
And if they're including scores, why not, say, Star Wars or Superman?
104) Crosby Stills & Nash: Deja Vu -- Just now? Are you on fucking crack?
107) Kenny G: Breathless -- Happy birthday, baby Jesus. I hope you like crap.
110) Beatles: Rubber Soul (1965) -- Way, way low.
112) Simon & Garfunkel: Bridge Over Trouble Water -- Actually my least favorite S&G album. Too bad it's the only one on the list.
118) Elton John: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
119) Police: Synchronicity (1983)
You guys are so on fucking crack it ain't funny. These two just confirmed it.
122) R Kelly: R -- Gaaaah, words just fail me here.
123) Tool: Lateralus -- I've never heard a Tool album in its entirety. From the bits I've heard, I've never seen the massive appeal of them.
124) Oasis: What's The Story Morning Glory -- Overrated city.
125) Bob Marley: Exodus -- Eh, I know these lists are supposed to completely disavow any compilations, but Legend beats anything else by Marley by miles.

Looking back at the top 25, I don't think Metallica's Black album is their best. It should have been Master of Puppets or And Justice For All.
Ok, I'm going out to buy some bear traps. Anarky, you better get me some names of who made this list. Assuming they are in LA, so I'll be by to pick you and EP up and we're going to make some "corrections" to this list.

While he does need to still see The Blues Brothers, I also think U2 is overrated (and downright annoying sometimes).
Creed blows goat.
Lateralus sounds like every other Tool album. That's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just that all their stuff sounds pretty much the same, and I have all their albums.
Kenny G? Please tell me you are making this list up and put it there as a joke.

For the first time, it's easier to list what I have rather than what I don't:
Diary of Alicia Keys
O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Footloose
Surfacing
Ride the Lightning
Tuesday Night Music Club
Red Headed Stranger
At Last!
Mellen Collie and the Infinite Sadness
Also, Christina Aguilera's self-titled album, which in no way shape or form belongs here, is the other that my brother left behind and forgot about.
And I think my wife may have the POS Enya CD, but I don't want to check right now.
Thoughts:
Diary of Alicia Keys is overrated. Her first album was much better.
Footloose is so dated that, aside from two or three songs, it's hard to listen to it anymore.
Red Headed Stranger and At Last! are both way, way too low on this list. From what I've heard, Cars is too low, too.
(Needless to say, given what I said earlier about Cash and one other Highwayman being on the list, Kris Kristofferson's self-titled debut album doesn't rank at all, which is a crime.)
Natalie Cole, Enya, and Toni Braxton don't even warrant mention.
Lionel Richie doesn't make any sense at all. Even his greatest hits CDs are hard to listen to all the way through.
Brubeck is the same problem as John Coltrane. Miles Davis and Frank Sinatra are technically the same deal, but I can see the argument in favor of them.
And we are now fully 3/4 of the way through the list, and--aside from some albums by Aerosmith, Zeppelin, and the Stones--no male blues! What the hell? Jazz but not blues? There should be some Muddy, Wolf, Sonny Boy, BB, Stevie Ray, or Robert Johnson on here by now. Etta can't do this alone, fellas.
