How I realized I was over Star Wars completely

movies are cool. here is a place to talk about how cool they are. or maybe how much they suck, sometimes. like that fucking piece of shit 'mac and me'. worst fucking movie ever, a two-hour ad for fucking coca-cola.

Their space mopeds better form into Voltron or some shit.

The scooters, gang & chase were all terrible. The only redeeming thing was the majordomo's speeder design. The wookie fight made up for it though. I'm happy after 3 episodes but not mandalorian happy.

the biker gang seemed a little out of place. if there's no work and they're stealing food, how do they have shiny, brand-spankin' new speederbikes? i guess you could hand-wave that away as "they stole them, too", but it seemed a bit discordant.

other than that, i have no quibbles. i thought the fight was cool, but i was surprised that the episode was directed by Rodriguez, as it didn't have his flair.

Ep 4 is in the books. This week saw repulsor engines somehow creating suction & yet more circumstance where Boba wouldn't have made it without Fennec's help. Boba is shedding awesomeness week by week instead of gaining it.

The moped gang street chase has to be one of the worst things filmed for a Star Wars tv show or movie (not counting the Holiday Special). The rest of the show is pretty good.

So, not only was this week's episode a stealth Mandalorian special, it's the first episode that's had appearances by Peli, Carson, and the Armorer, even if never in the same scene.

Also it was kind of fucking amazing.

The environment was bloody awesome. If it wasn't quite 100 percent original by sci fi standards, it looked & felt just right to me. I can't wait to see Grogu saved from Kylo's blade by the beskar chain mail shirt in season 13.

Didn’t get around to watching it until tonight. Wow. If anything, this episode just shined a light on how underwhelming the rest of the BoBF has been.

Also, Favreau and Filoni are big fucking nerds throwing that obscure ANH Easter egg in there when it was completely unnecessary and I loved it. I looked over at my daughter and said “that’s the pipe they were using in the trash compactor in the original film”

This is why there are seven episodes and not six like most of the other Disney+ shows. Because 1 of the 7 was just a back door Mandalorian season 2.5 episode.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is that I think R5-D4 is supposed to be the same one from A New Hope. The only real reason I think that is he still has a scorch make on his dome from the bad motivator.

Pelle Motto would certainly be the right character to take him in & get him working... and she might have gotten herself a deal on the little bugger by doing special favors for her Jawa boyfriend. That whole dialogue sequence was priceless.

The sect Mando belonged to was a hardcore branch that had isolated from rest of the ‘casuals’ like Bo-Katan.

I think they said in a BTS special that they are the same.

Oddly, EV-9D9 in the cantina is supposed to be the same as the one from Return of the Jedi... and she's also working in the kitchens at Jabba's palace on the other side of the planet, so, um, continuity fart, I guess?

I was like ‘lookit that dopey ass wide brim ha—OHHHH SHIT!!’ when I realized who it was.

Now that they’ve got the CGI on young Luke almost perfect, can we get a live action Shadows of the Empire movie already??

I'm not sure if I understand the concept of "bliss" exactly right or not, but I'm pretty convinced that's what I felt watching Master Luke working with young Grogu. Was it silly? Yes. Did it borrow from the frog on a hot plate fighting style that I absolutely hated in 2002? Yes. It didn't matter. I felt weepy pretty much for the entire episode & finally broke down when Luke had Yoda's little sabre to offer Grogu. All I could think of was "Failed, I have." and the waterworks started in earnest. These last 2 episodes have reached the heights set out by the Mando season 2 finale & may have surpassed them. I'll need time to rewatch a couple of times to be sure.
