TRU has a BOGO 50% off of City sets this week. We have a $10 off 50 purchase coupon. We went down there today. I was thinking about getting the ambulance and the dump truck. TRU has them priced at $25 and $22. Both these sets are $20 at Target and Walmart. I noticed TRU had some other sets that are $10 elsewhere marked up to $15. So while their sale sounded good, it wasn't.

yeah, that's pretty standard for TRU. their markups on LEGO are ridiculous.

LEGO is having a double VIP point promo until the 15th and free shipping on orders over $75 starting on the 12th, so the sweet spot is from tomorrow the 12th through thursday the 15th to get both promos. they just revealed Master Builder Academy Level 3 (Kit 7-9) preorder, so i'm going to buy that and the Star Wars "Cad Bane's Speeder" which is on sale for $30 (down from $50) to get both promos. there's also a free MBA poster with any MBA purchase, so i guess i'll be getting that, as well.

I FINALLY got the LEGO Star Destroyer. I paid $500 for it and it's got not box...but, on the bright side, after I won that auction I searched for a second or two and found a BIN for the Death Star Playset sealed in box for only $166. So now I've got the Executor, the Star Destroyer, and the Death Star Playset waiting for me when I get home. 10,000 pieces of glory awaits!

Ninjago
  • Turbo Shredder (white 1x10 curved slopes!!!!)

those that have been granted a stay of execution are:

Alien Conquest
  • Earth Defense HQ
  • Alien Tripod
Ninjago
  • Nuckal's ATV
  • Jay's Storm Fighter (blue 1x10 curved slopes!!!! but it looks too cool to take apart just yet)
Pharaoh's Quest
(one of my daughter's inexplicable favorites to play with, so it may not get the ax yet)
  • Scarab Attack
  • Rise of the Sphinx
  • Golden Staff Guardians
  • Flying Mummy Attack
  • Cursed Cobra Statue
Other
  • Atlantis Deep Sea Raider (another one of my daughter's inexplicable favorites)

My Imperial Flagship and Queen Anne's Revenge are still assembled and displayed downstairs.
My two Modular sets (Fire Brigade and Grand Emporium) are still assembled on my shelf.
Also the Jet from the Airport playset.

I also have some train sets that are in a big plastic tub. Noy displayed, but not completely disassembled.

And finally, my Vintage Space Set that I hunted down for three decades. I'm unwilling to dismantle that one. :)

You guys see this, particularly #2?
The price [of the Lego Millennium Falcon]? Right now, it's going for $2,950, which incidentally is $2,950 more than Han Solo paid Lando Calrissian for the original Falcon.

to be fair, they probably both had a lot more than that riding on that sabacc game, for there to be an entire spaceship in the pot.

I just bought the new Falcon LEGO set (unfortunately still haven't found a reasonably priced UCS version...) so now that puts me at 4 sets that I have to put together when I get home and now I'm well over 10,000 pieces. Should make for one helluva weekend!

"Raijin" Class Mk.II Light Interceptor by vynsane, on Flickr

While the speed and small profile of the "Raijin" Class Light Interceptor was above anything Tanuki Corp. had developed previously, the need for greater firepower options prompted a revision of the Light Interceptor configuration. Utilizing the same fuselage frame as the Mk.I while taking certain design cues from the "Mamushi" Class, the "Raijin" Mk.II paired a new set of wing/stabilizer modules featuring multiple weapon system hardpoints and a set of new enhanced nose-mounted blaster cannons.

In addition to the centrally-located enhanced blaster cannons, the depicted configuration is kitted out with four heavy energy cannons, two per side, connected via a forward-facing hardpoint mount.

I shall read this entire thread when i have more time but I just wanted to say that the Galactic patrol minifigure from collectible minifigs series 7 is possibly the best minifigure in recent years. I suspect it's in answer to all the requests for Halo sets and Lego saying fuck you we're not doing them but here's our own space marine so buy it or shut the fuck up. The classic space logo in silver on his shoulder armour is kewl.

I bought six so far. I'd like to buy more but I may go for some dark blue cobbled together off duty marines using bits of the Hockey player and whatever else seems to fit. Then I'll need to start thinking of vehickles and some sort of spacefaring ship. I'm thinking black and transparent orange. Got to have orange in there somewhere. Damn shame the series six Intergalactirl girl minifigure came in pink not white like the series one spaceman. I'm using him as regular ship crew. Would have liked booby babes in there too. Just can't bring myself to buy pink space suited minifigures though.

^ you should support the Space Marines idea on CUUSOO, then.

i want a bunch of the 'intergalactic girl' and 'galaxy patrol' figures. already have four of the series 1 spacemen and five or so of the series 3 blacktron cyborg.

OOH that CUUSOO idea is good. His newer renderings are waaaay better than the original ones. Vote added.

I'm after the Blacktron cyborg myself. And the body of space police 3's Rench which also has the Blacktron B.
I came up with a crappy idea for a space theme myself on Eurobricks. I also utilised the Galactic patrol dude in a Prison setting. Ugly alien prisoners and inescapable prison fortress. heavily armed guards. I started doodling minifig ideas but hit a brick wall designing a creature that is small and harmless alone but links up with others and becomes something altogether more dangerous. I just can't find a way to link them that doesn't compromise the design of the individual creature. I only just started on my idea though. still at thumbnail sketch stage.

the 'individual harmless gestalt hive dangerous' idea sounds pretty awesome! where do you normally post on eurobricks? i tend to stay in the LDD forum, and only venture out once in a while.

i was lucky enough to grab 10 of the 'rench' torsos at the Build-a-Minifigure station at one of my local LEGO stores:
