That's been part of the mythos since day one, though.

If anything my issues with it stemmed from my "suspension of disbelief" that a lower middle class high school student would have access to materials to create a costume that looks like that.
yeah, i don't really understand why the felt the need to do so. maybe to make it dissimilar to the first three movies i guess?
i do like that they're calling it 'the amazing spider-man', however. i always though they should've used the comic titles. a movie called 'web of spider-man' would just be so awesome.

What was believable enough for a goofy comic book in the 60s doesn't exactly translate into "real" life. I loved that change in the original flick. It made more sense for it to be organic, IMO.
And what exactly is the issue with the suit?
Unless there's something I missed, it doesn't seem any different than Toby Maguire's Peter Parker making a relatively similar suit.

well, the issue with the redesign of the suit isn't the same as the issue with both toby's peter and the new one having resources way beyond that of a normal high schooler to create such a suit. they've done some odd tweaks to the design of the suit for the new movie, like having all-blue palms, and i think two blue fingers on each hand or something. there's some sort of odd lightning-bolt zig-zag on the forearms, too. don't know about the rest.

Why don't they just make a compromise solution and have Harry (or a Harry-type) be in on Spidey's secret from the beginning, and "acquire" the webshooter technology for him? It's a change from the mythos, but the story's going to inevitably be changed anyway.

I'm not looking forward to the origin again (the first time was tedious enough), but that first person web-slinging was badass.

No clue why you can't see it.
There was a shitty bootleg version the other day, but the official one is out there now.

Here's the second Trailer.
A minor peeve is that "Puny" Parker is like six inches taller than all his classmates.

Marc Webb is Tweaking Spidey's Origin and stretching it out over multiple films. The wrestling match is out. I'm actually okay with making the origin deeper. We got the "classic" origin on film already, so them switching it up for the reboot is fine with me.

one thing that's always bugged me is when they show him sticking to walls in civilian clothes, and he's still got his sneakers on.

Not that I go looking but I couldn't help notice how - streamlined Garfield is in that suit.

true enough, but it's generally hand-waived in the comics that his costume is thin enough for his powers to work through it. in the movies he has a sort of thin sole even on the costume, so it's a bit more problematic. but his powers working through sneakers is another thing all-together.
that's one of the things that spurred me to decide that 'bug-boy' would actually be nearly barefoot, with the soles of his feet (as well as the palms of his hands) protected by an increased amount of chitin. y'know, if i ever do anything with that idea...
