Anyone give a shit about the Oscars?

Apparently this year I didn’t.
Didn’t see hardly any of the nominated films.
Didn’t know who or what was nominated.
Didn’t even watch them.

All I can say about this year’s selections is....it’s about goddamn time you fuckers gave Gary Oldman a statue. The man has been a national..nay..a GLOBAL treasure for decades.

And also to add to what Diabolical said about BP making more money than Justice League, a remake of Creature from the Black Lagoon won best picture. Are we sure we are not in the Matrix?

I haven't seen many of the best picture nominees, despite owning two of them on blu-ray (Dunkirk and Get Out).
I wanted to see 5/8, but most of them didn't play in my area.
Looking at the list of the big 6 categories, I haven't seen any of them.

But I watched the show anyway. It was mildly entertaining.
Politically light (minus several immigrant nods) and way too many #victimgame or #girlpower or whatever they're calling it this week.
And too many jokes about last year's Moonlight/La La Land fuck up.

Gary Oldman & Guillermo Del Toro got well deserved kisses. I know nothing of Guillermo Del Toro other than his movies look great and are well loved, but Pan's Labyrinth creeped me way out (not sure why but I thought this was going to be a family type thing) so I never kept going with them.

I've never seen any of them either, but Frances McDormand's billboards thing looked interesting enough.

Found out when I took my daughter for a Dr appt this morning and today’s paper was in the waiting lobby.

Spider-Man won best animated film.
Black Panther took home costumes, Production Design, and Score.
Bohemian Rhapsody got both sound categories, Editing, and Best Actor.

Those were the only noms I’d seen.

Not giving a shit for the third straight year.
Didn’t realize they were tonight.
Saw a crack about Parasite on another website.
I guess it won Best Picture.

Weird year for me as I had actually seen 3 of the movies: Joker, Irishman & Once Upon a time in Hollywood. I liked Once best of those 3. I have Parasite available to me on google play & will give it a go this week to see what all the hype 'bout. The guy accepting the awards was funny.

Eminem performing was out of left field. They actually had a very interesting opportunity to have him reunited with Elton John as they were both there, but they missed it somehow. Instead he went through Lose Yourself looking quite husky & wearing some very odd trousers. Audience reactions were *cough" mixed *cough* to say the least but Kelly Marie Tran was all into it.

During a pandemic, people don't care about much... I mean shit, I'm not even caring about sports which is usually something interesting to me. The Oscars didn't even come across my radar until they were over & I started seeing some news headlines.

Five years of not giving a shit. Didn’t even know they were on tonight until Will Smith started trending and my daughter said something. Hahahaha OMFG.

Also, I’ve literally never heard of Coda until five minutes ago.

Coda isn't the weakest Led Zeppelin album, but only because In Through the Out Door is so un-Zeppelin in so many ways.

The bigger smack in Chris' face was letting Will go up there & cry in front of everyone like nothing happened. He should have been escorted out & someone else could have cried on his behalf. If I was Chris I wouldn't even answer the phone if they called next year.

Holy shit, Golden Shovel Award here!

Just think of how effective it would've been at putting Chris in his place, making him look like shit to everyone, and bringing awareness to his wife's condition if he'd just calmly said at an appropriate time, "My wife has alopecia, man. That is really not cool."

Also I'm still not clear if Chris had any idea. I don't follow celebrity gossip, and (though I'm okay with their work as individuals) make an extra effort to avoid news about the Smith family. I had no idea. It's entirely possible.

I celebrate their entire catalog. My favorite from Coda is Bonzo's Montreaux. The rest are ok. I actually like more songs from In Though the Out Door.

Other than Men in Black, I really don't care about anything else Will Smith has been in, and I certainly don't give a shit about the Oscars.
