Football

most tv sucks these days, but there are some shining examples of good writing, acting, camera work, etc... we call those Deadwood and Arrested Development. Family Guy sucks ass, though...

My boss is a Cowboys fan and our admin is a Bears fan. She said she's done with Cutler. I told her they could probably get Romo next year. My boss called me a smartass. He's hoping that Romo takes a pay cut and stays in Dallas as a back-up. It really seems like someone from Romo's family should tell him to retire so he still has a chance of being able to walk after his career is over.

Dallas isn't paying $20M for a backup QB. They could use that room in the salary cap for 6-12 other players.

Romo has always seemed to me a serviceable QB that gets hurt easily. I think it's because The Cowboys have a larger than average fan base that he gets so much attention. I won't say he's overrated, but he's definitely not elite. And at his age, any team that he goes to, he'll just get hurt before their Bye week and be out for half the season.
I'd say the same thing about Matty Ice. He's had some good years but overall he's only serviceable. If Matt Ryan didn't have Julio Jones he'd be middle of the pack.

Lions have the Giants, Saints, Cowboys, bears and packers left to play.
Saints, Bears, and GB seem like wins.
Giants is iffy.
Cowboys not so much.
But either way, they finish the season 11-5 or 10-6. They'll get chewed up in the post season though.

The problem with living in the Quad Cities is having to watch an uninspiring Bears/Niners game. Apart from the Jags and Cleveland, the two shittiest teams in the NFL with no chance of going to the playoffs, instead of watching an exciting Lions/Saints game.

Also, who's asshole is Jeff Fisher tongue slurping to keep his coaching job with the Rams? They just signed him a two year extension. He's never had a winning season with the Rams. He will soon be the losingest coach in the history of the NFL.

Great satirical cartoon from a couple of weeks ago & I can't find it now - fisher with his nose barely above water thinking "don't make waves".

I googled 'Jeff Fisher cartoon don't make waves' and didn't find the cartoon.
But I did find a photo spread of 27 year old Carrie Fisher in her slave Leia gear cavorting in the ocean.

Giggity. Giggity. Goo.

My friend and I have been trashing Jeff Fisher for the past 2 weeks. He texted me this morning saying that Fisher just got a 2 year extension. My response was "Commitment to mediocrity."

I haven't seen the highlights from the Bills game, and I'm not sure I want to. That 2nd half collapse to the Raiders probably cost them a shot at the playoffs. Again.

That wasn't so much a Lions victory as it was the Bears beating themselves at the end there.
But a win is a win and we'll take it.

Now I'm torn, Seattle vs GB. A Packer loss helps with Detroit's cushion coming down the stretch. But a Seattle loss puts Detroit in the #2 seed. Hmmmm.

Oh, and Cleveland continues their perfect season.

Congrats on the Lions win.

Multiple reports today say that Rex Ryan might be fired soon. The front office wants to start Cardale Jones and wish they never gave Tyrod Taylor that contract. Apparently the team will opt out of the remainder of it after this season. Rex Ryan insists on starting Taylor over Jones. Add another year to the playoff drought.

Hoo nelly. You could likely tag yourself with just that pic alone.... if you were crazy enough to buy a ticket.

The Bills need to fire Rex Ryan, in fact they should know known what an embarrassment he'd wind up being by having seen his behavior as the Jets coach. Don't go away mad, Rex, just go away.

The Browns game was just as bad.
They were selling tickets for $1.00 and couldn't get anyone to go.

Well I'm glad the nfl fanship at large has decided there is a minimum acceptable level of product. This is the first year of my life where declining interest in the TV coverage is in decline. Obviously folks are still following the NFL in record numbers, but the online coverage has gotten so complete & up to date you really don't even need to watch.... or attend the games apparently.
