Telling me she's 17 makes me almost feel bad about trying to come up with a joke about storing things in her backpack.

Also, not that I'm a big Dora continuity expert, but wasn't there a teenaged version with a bunch of friends, which bombed miserably because it was a shitty Barbie knockoff?

Saw an ad for the new Halloween movie. When did Jamie Lee Curtis turn into Carol from The Walking Dead?

If the teenager from the original Halloween is now a senior citizen, doesn’t that mean Michael Myers is like a 80 year old serial killer?
Just push that fucker down some stairs and break his hip. Boom. Done.

Netflix is doing a new TV series that is a prequel to The Dark Crystal.

There are 4 main voice actors. If you want to feel really old, the two of main voice actors were all born in 1989, and another was born in 1996. The movie came out in 1982.

I just did a rewatch. It wasn't to my liking any more, but I did really like it as a kid. I read the book (based on the movie) a few times too. I'll likely check this out.

I watched it last week on Netflix. It wasn’t awful, but it didn’t hold my attention like it did when I was seven. They really hammer home the mythology at the beginning of the movie. I feel like the back story is explained like 3 or 4 times in succession as the movie starts. Like the narrator, then the characters, then the narrator again, and then thru the dialogue of the characters yet again.

And according to the IMDb trivia, the entire thing is based on a miscommunication. Henson intended for it to be called “Dark Chrysalis” and the concept artist misheard or misread and came back with all these concept drawings of crystals and they just went with it.

Ummmm...did you guys know there’s a “sequel” to Braveheart coming out this year?
It’s called Robert the Bruce and it stars the dude who played Robert in 1995’s Braveheart.
Thought it was some fan fiction bs when I saw the trailer on YouTube but...nope. Real.

Just heard about "Jay and Silent Bob Reboot"
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6521876/

According to Wikipedia:
Smith has described the film as "literally the same fucking movie all over again," referring to his 2001 comedy Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

He actually filmed this one, after several false starts with Clerks 3 and Mallrats 2.

I don't remember if we have a Matrix topic.

Anyway, Matrix IV was announced. With Keanu and one of the Wachowskis. I feel like I'm the only person whose response is "Meh."

You're definitely not the only one.
The first is the only watchable one, and it hasn't exactly held up over time.

Bad Boys For Life is coming out in January. Third in the series. I don't think I ever saw the first two.

In the TV world, the trend of terrible remakes of terrible old shows continues with the announcement that Jared Padalecki of Supernatural has found his next gig after this final season of Supernatural. He'll star as the new Walker, Texas Ranger...for some reason.
