computers are cool - they are the reason you are here right now! Hopefully, JJReason can build one and prove once and for all, Canadians are somewhat intelligent.
Okay, we got a brand new digicam, an Olympus somethin or other, and the damn software says it only works with WinXP or higher- could this be true? It's USB-hooked-up and all but I don't wanna fry the fuckin thing doing something stupid- is there any sort of interface that is kinda "Universal"?? It says the export on it is in JPG format so I can't see why I can't just somehows hook it up and let it rip?? Don't they usualy function as a "remote" drive anyways??
Last thing I wanna do is blow out my fuckin PC OR the cam the first day I get the thing, so I'm gonna take it easy- any help at ALL would be SWEET- I am a total digicam newbie- I always took pics and someone burned 'em down for me, and I was always thinking that there was a way to NOT install the fuckin 500 MB "program" just to get pics into the PC...
I admit I am likely totally out in left field with that line of thinking too, so don't worry about ofending me by sayin I have it ALL wrong
Wow my first chance to be helpful... eat your leg.
Ok just hook it up, its USB so its PnP hook it up and the worst thing that could happen is that you PC detects it as a portable USB device. If that happens and you can't install the drivers for some odd reason. Then all you have to do is go into my computer find the "new" USB portable device and double click it. It should then take you to some root dir. Inside should be your picture files.
Other words it should be fine. Assuming you have WinME, 2k etc. Believe win98 SE should detect it fine.
Okay thanks fellas, I figured I wasn't gonna wreck anything but I'd rather be told kinda for sure
I'm just drinkin me sunday tea right now, but I'll be back later to post my results- I have to get in a kinda painful crouch to get at the damn back of my PC, so I gotta work up to it
fuck man, I think I need a new PC- I can't get the fuckin thing to work NO-HOW- it seems the cam absolutely requires the software be in the PC, otherwise it just throws up a blue screen with "ONE MOMENT" on it, so who knows. I am now gonna try to build another machine outta the junk I have scattered about and see what happens. Why does nothing EVER work the way it's supposed to around here???
