Not really, but quite close.

So I put my daughter down for a nap earlier this afternoon. (I work from home, in case you didn't know.) It put her on her back, and she normally rolls over onto her stomach almost immediately. Which she did.

I take care of some work and, when I get to a stopping point (about 20 minutes later), I look in on her. She's laying there, on her stomach, with her eyes wide open and pointed at me. I figure she's just woke up and say something. She doesn't respond at all. After she doesn't respond to me talking a second time, I'm really freaked out.

When I grab her, though, she wakes right up (and in a bad mood). She'd been sleeping with her eyes open!

I know I used to do this, but, damn, I had no idea they started it so early. I don't think I've ever been more scared in my life.

oh, man... being in the same situation, i can totally hear what you're saying. fuck. if julia did that i'd freak the fuck out.

EP's daughter did that all the time. I wonder if it's a gender thing?

It's disconcerting at firsf, but then it does become semi-amusing (but only after the doctor assured us it was a temporary thing she would grow out of.)

I know it would scare my ass too if I saw it, but the after thought is funny. Kind of like when you discipline your child, but then walk into your room and laugh about what they did.

I haven't had this happen per se, but I've had the experience where you check them at night and you look to see if they're breathing and you can't see their chest moving up and down so you put a hand on them and they snap to and want to get up.

I was kind of like that with our first one for a long time, not quite as long the second time around.
