The spoken word is fleeting. It slides by the ears and mind as quickly as it is spoken, to be replaced by whatever is spoken next.
The printed word stays and unflinchingly stares back at you as long as you are able read it and take in its meaning. This could be a mere moment, or an hour, depending on the intensity of the thought behind it. Whatever time you are willing to give, it gives in return.
