If anyone ever played "New Horizons" on SNES that's ths shit, a game with a really huge map, ideally the whole planet, with farily simple fleet combat and shit, tons of different ship classes/types, more like a strategy game....
And a bit of "role playing" maybe.. more of an RPG than an action game....

Are there any such titles???

I have never explored them, Mabs. I know that POTC2 had a movie-game come out, but that doesn't sound like what you want. There was another one called simply "Pirates", but I haven't seen it for awhile. Check ebay for "Pirates PS2" just to see what you get, that'll help you decide if there's one you want or not.

If you are refering to "Sid Meier's Pirates" it only came out on X-Box and PC. It is worth picking up for the PC.
