i think i broke my face

Post by vynsane »

okay, so it's now tuesday morning and my face still hurts. y'see, saturday afternoon, i was in my living room while the rest of my family was in the kitchen, and julia was walking up and down the hallway, and i decided i'd sneak up on her and scare her (she loves to be surprised/scared... it's so funny) so i whip around the couch, make the turn to go through the small hallway between the living room and our bedroom, and subsequently cause the entire earth to tilt on its axis and hit me in the left side of my face. seriously, that's how it felt, i'd never fallen so hard or quickly. i'm lucky i didn't crack my head on the 1880's plaster wall and only the hard wood flooring. i was dazed for quite a bit, and in pain for much longer, though it mostly subsided by the next day. however, i still have quite a bit of pain/pressure in the left side of my face, especially when i bite down on the left side, leading me to believe i've possibly caused a small hairline fracture or some sort of chipped bone material floating around. it hurts in the corner of my left eye, where the bridge of my nose meets the cheek bone, and also underneath and around to the left side of the cheek bone itself, the hole where the main mandibular muscle passes through (hence the pain upon chewing). it really sucks. at least it seems my teeth are okay. at first i thought i had knocked one out. they still feel a bit weird, but i think they'll be alright.

so, yeah. that sucked.

Ouch. I can't say no more.

This might explain why you haven't added your two cents to the thread about the old Spider-Man cartoon at your other site. I just assumed you were too busy taking it up the ass from Snigtad's Uncle Rodger.

heh, no, it's definitely more funny than it is painful/serious, but i'm pretty sure i did some sort damage. meh. it'll heal.

i had a ring of "artifacts" on my vision in my let eye for a good half hour/45 minutes after the fall. that was a bit freaky. i was relieved when that went away. i've had "floaties" before - amorphous blobs of... interference is the best way to describe it... on my vision in the past, maybe twice, but this was the only time it was brought on by something happening. other times it was just random "op, can't see out of that eye today,no sir..."

That reminds me of the time I took one of them whaddyacallits? Hacksaws. And I just spread my toes together and started sawing. Then I poured in a little of that there, uh, tabasco sauce. You talk about a hotfoot!

(I know the quote's off a little, but suck my balls if you don't like it.)

I have nightmares where I lose my teeth a lot. I tried to look up what it meant, but the only meaning I could find is in those total bullshit astrological books. It's supposed to mean a close relative is about to die very soon.

Ten years I've been having this dream, and ain't nothin' happened, so I ain't worried none no how. :yeaha:

I have that shit all the time, I done heard it was due to stress and worry

Stupid dream interpreting hippies!

Vyn, I hope you are ok. Wonder if you caused yourself a small concussion, hence the "floaties" lasting for so long.

Any swelling? Ice, Ice baby!

Hope you feel better!!

I'm 5'-7" and played a lot of sports. It turns out that if a dude is over 6'-0" or so, his elbow is roughly about the level of my head. And for some reason, I have an incredible knack for getting hit in the head by random objects.

yeah, i'm cool. i have a high tolerance for pain, but this isn't really even registering as pain at this point. it's more of an annoyance, like i forget about it until i bite down and go "ooh, crap... that's annoying."

possibly, i wouldn't count it out. it was a palpable hit.

not that i noticed, but when i told my commuting buddy about it, he thought i was a bit misshapen. probably wouldn't have taken a close enough look to notice anything if i hadn't told him, though.
Hope you feel better!!
thanks! i probably will. when compared to the time my brother whacked me one sideways across the face and my jaw kinda dislodged and it clicked for about 6 months after that when i chewed, i'm thinking this is a 3 month annoyance at most.

EDIT: about my brother: we're really great siblings, but were always rather rough with each other. while i generally pulled my punches and only attacked extremities, as the younger brother he lashed out for more sensitive areas. i don't blame him for that, he was 4 years younger than me. the bigger they are, the dirtier you have to fight.
