Fuck the motherfucking eBay mentality

<b>Why does every fucking idiot assume "out of print" means "I should grab up all the ones I can find, list them online for ten times the retail price, and then not sell them because no one has enough fucking money to buy them"?</b>

Like f'rinstance, I picked up T Rex's <i>The Slider</i> on tape many, many years ago. When they released the CD's, it wasn't my highest priority, since it was on tape. And it was on every goddamned shelf in the country.

So my tape finally wears out, and one day I've got a hankering to hear "Ballrooms of Mars." So I go to order the CD. It's out of print, and going for ridiculous prices. I have about half the album on CD from compilations (I used to be a big fan for some reason I can no longer fathom), and I'm not about to fucking drop $30 or $40 for <b>half</b> an album!

It was in print not six months ago. It can't be in that high of fucking demand. No one bought any of the ones that lingered on shelves the entire time it was in print. Am I supposed to believe everyone in the country had a tape of it that broke at the same time? Bull fucking shit!!

And now I'm really motherfucking pissed off, because someone at <b><font color="red">the other site</font id="red"></b> was asking about the Jedi Apprentice series. It turns out about 2/3 of the fucking series is out of print! And of course, the ones that aren't on the shelves at every goddamn Barnes and Noble worldwide are online, with idiot sellers who apparently missed class the day that they taught fucking supply and demand in Economics asking $60 and up for some of these books in the same condition they'd be in if a fucking horse shat on them!

How fucking stupid of me. A couple of years ago, after seeing the DK Essential Guides marked down to pennies <b>and</b> watching the skyrocketing price of the E1 Sio Bibble figure (which I still haven't fucking got), I was moronic enough to assume that, when I had less than $10 to spare on SW stuff, I should buy that POTJ Darth Maul figure that's sure to be impossible to get later, and pass on the latest Jedi Apprentice book, because which one will I be able to get any goddamned mother fucking time I want?

Oh, yeah, I was shitting stupid, right?

And so now, I know which ones are impossible to find. (Well, not impossible to find, since after I found the War Within TPB, a book about Jeopardy, a Derek Trucks album, and the To Kill a Mockingbird DVD on the shelves for normal or discount prices after learning <b>they</b> were impossible to find and worth hundreds [roll].) But I've been through two moves without sorting my SW books, so they're in all sorts of boxes. Some haven't been opened for two years. I don't even know which ones I'm missing, aside from "not the ones that I actually have sitting on my shelves."

I was already planning to read the whole series after I move next month. Well, guess what? Thanks to some major assholes, I won't be. I'll be scouring the area, trying to find these missing links at reasonable prices. I know they printed fucking billions of them. They're somewhere. And I know I'm missing one of the supposedly hardest to find.

Goddamned scalpers.

Makes me want to choke a bitch.

Yeah, but especially for books, I don't want the empty spot on my shelf.

I did some checking, and actually know for a fact that I have all but 3-6, 15, and 18. I can't find the books, but know I have 3-4 and am 99% sure I have 5-6. This only leaves two books, which isn't bad. I know I'll find them, but the whole BS about "Super-rare title! Out of print! Hard to find!" when I can find three copies in the local Walden's is a super load of shit.
(And I did find three copies last night of #1.)

Funny thing is the folks who own the copyrights don't care. You'd think common fucking sense would say, "Hmm. Folks are willing to pay $100 for this $5 book, and neither the author nor Scholastic are making any profit from that $95 markup. Maybe we should reissue these?" No, they just want to send crapass form letters assuring me my comments are important even though I can guarandamntee you they went right into the trash.

I was right. I found almost the whole damn JA series last night at a local university bookstore. $40 each my ass. I not only got the two I needed, but picked up one for a forumite at the other place who is still missing a few books.

You paid forty bucks each for the books from a college store? Were they used?

No, they're $40 online. I got the two I needed for $4.99. Sorry I wasn't clear. :)

I think he was saying he fucked those guys that were charging the $40. Kind of weird since he was so made at them when this thread started.....

Either that or he fucked them over by getting the OOP books for cover price. I can never be sure with him.

EDIT: I see that he cleared that up. Sorry for thinking you fucked those guys Chux.

I just love this shit.

I did a search for a Gameboy Player. It's a thing that screws onto the bottom of a GameCube and you stick Gameboy games in it.

It retailed for $50. I always meant to grab one, and never got around to it.

So there are a bunch of people selling it, asking for upwards of $200 because it's "rare" and "out of print."

First, how does hardware go out of print?

Second, if there are so many online, why do these dumbasses think they are so valuable.

Third, I've seen a few billion of these since I got my GameCube. I can't tell you how recently, but there were a fuckload made. How is this "rare"?

It's like these crackheads are so desperate for a buck that they're making it impossible to get anything that isn't still coming out of the factory.

BTW, I don't care that much for one. I just figured if I could get one cheap, it'd be cool to have. I could buy three GameBoys for what some of these jokers are asking.
