If school uniforms are meant to prevent "distractions"

Then why do they design the girls' uniforms to be really quite hot on the older girls?

Admittedly, this is not a problem with second graders. But most schools that require uniforms are private or charter schools, and have students in high school as well. Do they not think that dressing all the senior girls in semi-translucent white blouses and short skirts might be counterproductive if they want their male classmates to stop thinking about boning them for five minutes and focus on their studies?

Just reading 'school uniform' in the title gave me a semi.

They ought to dress (well, they ought NOT to, or else what would we have to ogle?) But they ought to dress the girls in what the Amish women wear. Those dowdy neck to ankle dresses. Or pants. Its the 21st century. Girls are allowed to wear pants now. Everybody dresses the same. Hence the term, Uniform.

Nowadays, if the Catholic schools here are any indication, both genders are wearing matching khaki's & golf shirts, possibly going to (unfortunately) sensible shorts in the hot weather.

no, the catholic schools by you are not any indication of what's still the prevailing theory that somehow fueling adolescent (and not so adolescent) fantasies improves behavior and learning.

i think they're just going with the same theory that bars go with:

"ladie's night will bring in the guys, who will then drink a lot".

replace "ladie's night" with "schoolgirl uniforms", and "drink" with "learn". i don't think it works the way they think it will.

also, i keep forgetting to post this and this reminded me, finally. on our main local highway, where most of the businesses reside, there's a school uniform distributor DIRECTLY across the street from a sex shop. no joke. i bet the sex shop does special orders to the uniform place all the time.

I always feel dirty watching movies with those outfits featured in them, even if the girl is obviously well into her 20s (or even 30s, which it would appear in some cases).... but I get over it. :beard:
