Yes, this could go hand in hand with my "Watched a few DVD's lately" or whatever - but I'm sure this movie needs a thread of its own. I'll only say this once: if you haven't seen Crash yet, you have no business being here reading this. Get up, go rent it and watch it immediately.
This was, by far, the best movie I've seen in a year - and I'm sure much longer than that. In fact, I can't think of 10 movies right now that I've thought more highly of. Don Cheadle might be the best actor working right now, everything he does is amazing.
Once I know we're clear to discuss this, I'll tell you which scene effected me more emotionally than any other bit of any movie I've ever watched - and I'm including Yoda's "Failed, I have." in with that.
If Crash doesn't win the Academy Award for Best Picture of the Year, I'll blow Dell Rusk.

Um, wasn't Crash nominated for Best Picture last year? :p
Pucker up, JJ. Dell, I've got someone who wants to say hello to your little friend. (Emphasis on "little.")

Holy shit - really? I fucking got it out of the new releases section - assuming it was a "new release".
What won last year? Brokeback Mountain? To be honest, I haven't watched that one yet, so I can't speak to it.
Let me rephrase my above offer then - if Crash isn't better than the movie that wins the Academy Award for Best Picture this year, I'll blow Dell Rusk.

Does that apply in the (albeit unlikely) chance that Superman Returns or Dead Man's Chest wins Best Picture?

I went into Crash expecting a typical ho-hum drama.
Coming out of the theater, I'm not sure I've ever been more impressed/moved by a movie.
All I could think was "Wow." It stuck with me for days afterward.
Even though I think award shows are pretty pointless, this was finally a movie that deserved Best Picture and actually won it.

I will agree with you there. Totally blew me away. Still love the whole" There a dead gook under the van" scene

For me it was the young girl running to her Dad with the invisible invincibility cape on - that scared the living shit out of me. Honestly, I was crying for about 5 minutes after that resolved itself. Unbelievable, and just when that's cleared up you realize what Don Cheadle is going to find when he goes to see what the other cops are working on, coupled with the realization that he sold the other cop out for nothing.

Crash was an awesome movie and I was glad to see it win Best Picture. I haven't made time to watch the extended cut yet but I need to.
Terrance Howard is a complete badass btw.
