computers are cool - they are the reason you are here right now! Hopefully, JJReason can build one and prove once and for all, Canadians are somewhat intelligent.

linux

while all the vynsanity out there rains down upon us like so many golden showers, i figured now would be a good time to check out linux... and it's pretty freakin' sweet. i received a salvaged macintosh G4 from one of my jobs (450mhz proc, 384mb/ram...) that was running Mac OSX.3.9...

so i brought it home, and subsequently downloaded an .iso file of ubuntu linux and installed it. if anyone is at all tech-knowledgable, or just interested, it would be a fun experiment... also, if you have a spare machine sitting around, it would be totally worth your while to install it - linux, by definition, is able to bring new life into old hardware, as it is a lot less hardware-intensive as the likes of windows and mac...

i've got DVD playback working on it now (something it can't come with - to keep it free they can't include proprietary packages they would have to pay for...)

it wasn't too hard, and i found all the answers on their "help" area and the ubuntu forums...

oh, yeah, did i glance over the fact that it's a FREE operating system? it is, btw...
Life is short. STUNT IT!

They actually have a linux kit for Playstation 2, believe it or not. I was looking into it (because it comes with a keyboard, hard drive, modem, etc - everything you need) - but it's worth a goddamned fortune on ebay.

Subsequently, I decided to build the new PC. I DO like the penquin though. He's a cool mascot.
