At the grocery store where I worked until yesterday, there are baggers in addition to the cashiers. A few of the baggers (about four of them) either have Down's syndrome or are autistic or something (one autistic girl is pregnant by some old dude who already has a bunch of kids). It's hard to get mad at them, but they fucking take forever to bag the fucking groceries. One of the girls learned that you should talk to the customers, so now she always asks if they have any kids or pets, even if they're not buying kids food or pet food or anything like that. And she gets fucking pissed if you try to help her bag so things can go faster, or if the people want any kind of bag but plastic. You can tell the customers are kind of weirded out by it, too . . .

Since the only time we shop there is for incidentals (we do our "big" grocery shopping at Wal Mart because their prices tend to be way better), we're able to just quick run through the U-Scan and avoid them. I think its noble and what not that they're given the chance to have jobs blah blah blah but it shouldn't take a half hour to bag my fucking bananas.

I worked at King Soopers, which is the Colorado version/division of Kroeger. I wonder why they all do that?
