Yeah, those are the ones I have too vyn. I like them, they just take up a lot of space on my shelf.
I think the older foldout sets had more content (and/or discs) too, IIRC.

"Once there were brook trout in the streams in the mountains. You could see them standing in the amber current where the white edges of their fins wimpled softly in the flow. They smelled of moss in your hand. Polished and muscular and torsional. On their backs were vermiculate patterns that were maps of the world in its becoming. Maps and mazes. Of a thing which could not be put back. Not be made right again. In the deep glens where they lived all things were older than man and they hummed of mystery."

Re: "X-Files" stars, crew reunite for secretive sequel
Anyone else see the new movie?
I used my free ticket from the recent Revelations DVD.
I enjoyed it, but it really was a 2 hour episode. No CG, no explosions, not even a gun fired (IIRC).
Amanda Peet wasn't a bad addition (she served a purpose), but Xzibit's character was totally worthless.
But this whole return of the X-Files has got me wanting to start buying the seasons, especially at $20 a pop (who knew Wal-mart was goo for something?). If I start watching them all from the beginning I'll bet the ongoing storyline makes a little more sense.

Grimlock once watched the X-Files - he got so scared he pissed on himself.
I just remembered that my X-Files Revelations DVD came with a coupon:
Also, with Revelations priced at $15, I could buy two more copies, use the coupon and still save $5 each when buying the rest of the series (Revelations $15 + 3 Seasons $60 - $20 coupon = $55).
All 9 seasons = $150 ($16.66 a season).
I just remembered that my X-Files Revelations DVD came with a coupon:
Which means at $20 a pop I can get 3 seasons for $40.Buy 1 Season Save $5
Buy 2 Seasons Save $10
But 3 Seasons Save $20.

has david duchovny learned to speak properly yet? or are his teeth still cemented together so all he can do is mumble and look suicidal?
I have never read any of your posts, but from what I can learn I should say that for people who like the kind of posts you deliver, they are just the kind of posts such people like.

Re: "X-Files" stars, crew reunite for secretive sequel
I picked it up on DVD today (as well as Step Brothers).
I only bought the single disc version. I enjoy me some X-Files, but I wasn't really interested in a 2 hour Making Of Doc or the Digital Copy bullshit.
I think I may actually get the wife to watch it since it isn't big on anything supernatural. She tends to (but not always) hate anything too far out of the realm of reality.

I saw it and it was okay. I feel bad for the people that waited years for a second movie only to have it be an episode about a 2 headed fucking dog. Not very supernatural if you ask me...

Without spoiling too much, since I might someday want to see it, did this actually wrap things up?

It wraps up the story that it starts in the movie, but doesn't deal too much with the past events from the series.anarky wrote:Without spoiling too much, since I might someday want to see it, did this actually wrap things up?
I didn't really follow the series much (just casually), so I'm not even sure how the series ended, but from what I gathered in the movie, its mostly playing catch up with the characters. They do find a way to reintroduce Mulder and Scully to the FBI. But I don't think there's anything crucial to the mythos here.

No. This movie was Chris Carter, Duchovny and Anderson simultaneously wanting to make some easy money and get all the whiny X-Files fans to shut the fuck up about a goddamn X-Files movie AND make it so they wouldn't ever want to see another one. It's a 42 minute episode stretched out to two hours.
And it's about sexual reassignment surgery. Oooh! Scary.
Piece of carp is what it was.

Amazon's Deal of the Day is The X-Files: The Complete Series for $123.99!
That's less than $14 per season!
61 discs, all 9 seasons, the first movie (now out print) and another bonus features disc.
Fuck...if I only had $124.

fuck, if i only had a time machine and could go back in time and kick myself in the balls and steal my money i was going to use to buy the original sets every 6 months that i was working at tower records i would be able to buy that and still have about $600 to mess around with.Diabolical wrote:Amazon's Deal of the Day is The X-Files: The Complete Series for $123.99!
