Stupid, stupid question

Post by anarky »

Anyone know of a good site to find scans of comic book covers and interior artwork? I'm working on a web page for the comic shop I frequent, and I've got a (I think, at least) kickass design. Only it requires several images of various characters. I'm thinking mostly Marvel and DC, but better-known folks like Snake Eyes, Optimus Prime, the TMNT, Spawn, Savage Dragon, etc, would be welcome.

Google and Yahoo searches are rather imprecise, and yield too many results (mostly of lower resolution than I'm looking for). I can use them, but it takes major time to sort through the mass of results that such common geek words as "Batman" tend to yield. So, uh, the question I originally posted.

Any hep here'd be hot.

Have you tried looking on Wikipedia? I know you can look up entries for a character, say Spider-Man, and they will have some comic book covers and interiors. For example: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/e ... etwar8.jpg

Not sure if this is a lot of help or not, but it's what first came to mind.

I also found this site: http://www.comics.org/

Looks pretty good for covers.

I actually stumbled upon wikipedia last night, and it's been something of a godsend. I found a good pic of the Thing by Wieringo who is now on the navigation menu. (I was originally going to go with Batman or Superman, but the Thing's coloration works better with the design.)

I just checked out comics.org, and a brief glance at it looks like it's the comic cover wet dream I was looking for. Muchos gracias, El Leminister. [beard]
