Four more years of incompetent leadership
I don't really want to get political, but the news I keep reading and hearing pisses me off.
The Democrats could have a total lock on the White House, since Bush is pretty reviled right now. Only thing is, as a party, they seem to think Hillary Clinton should be the nominee. Never mind that she's a career politician who's gone so far as to set up a temporary residence so she could be the senator from a state she'd never lived in. No, we have one of the single most polarizing figures in recent history. Republicans absolutely will not vote for her. Independents will not vote for her. Fuck, most Democrats won't vote for her.
Any one of the other Democrats, even Dennis "The Menace" Kucinich could beat pretty much any of the Republicans. But, nooooooooo. The Democrats seem pretty keen on putting Hillary in that spot.
Which means the Republicans have it nailed. But who among that bunch is even marginally competent enough to stand out. Most of them are about as bright as Dubya. Giuliani, like Clinton, wants more to say he's president than to actually serve the people, and his resume's a little spotty. Everything is "9/11 this, 9/11 that," and screw the fact that even the police and firemen in NYC hate his guts.
Maybe the populace will vote for Fred "Who Knows Where the Fuck I Stand" Thompson.
It's just... fuck, it'd be nice to have a goddamned leader that can actually unite the country rather than dividing it further.

Re: Four more years of incompetent leadership
Do you think that a 3rd party candidate might make the ballot? There are some "ex-Republicans" out there. Maybe that Ron Paul guy has a shot.
I honestly can't bring myself to pay attention to politics anymore. Hell, I'd vote for George Carlin or Dennis Miller before I voted for Hilary Clinton.

Which is kinda sad, since Obama is one of the few politicians who piques my interest. Fuck that silly bitch.

Yeah, Obama seems like he actually knows what the hell he's talking about. There is absolutely no way in hell that Hillary will win.
We need a brotha up in the white house, anyway.

Shit. I can't think of a good signature.

Re: Four more years of incompetent leadership
At the 2004 Democratic National Convention, when an unknown newbie junior senator from Illinois spoke, I said to myself, "Now that guy, and not Herman Munster, should be President."
I wish either Edwards or Obama would put their ego aside and team up as the other's running mate. There's no law that says running mates can't be chosen before the primaries. Edwards and Obama together would crush that silly bint.
I'm a registered Democrat (though I increasingly wonder why), I'm pretty liberal on most social issues, and I totally disagree with all the Republicans. And even I would likely not vote for Hillary.

Obama's my favorite, too. But he ain't no brotha. He may be black (or half black, I think), but he's got a white man's presence, vocabulary and authority. Fuck, even Reverend Al Sharpton (or Jesse Jackson, forgot which one) said that Obama "wasn't black enough". You know what I've got to say to that, Sharpton? Nigga, please.Senor JabbaJohnL wrote:We need a brotha up in the white house, anyway.

Re: Four more years of incompetent leadership
I gotta admit, I kinda like Sharpton. If you watch him in interviews, he's a pretty sharp cookie, and he has a great sense of humor. I seriously doubt I'd ever vote for him for president, but he seems likeable enough. And I kinda get the impression he knows he's not really a viable candidate, but wants more to make sure that certain issues are brought up in the discussion.
Jesse Jackson is totally full of shit, though.

Al Sharpton is the biggest piece of shit on this earth. I cant stand that fat fucker. I hope he dies a horrible death. I cant believe they stabbed him in the gut and he lived. Only got the first 4 layers I guess.anarky wrote:I gotta admit, I kinda like Sharpton. If you watch him in interviews, he's a pretty sharp cookie, and he has a great sense of humor. I'm guessing you've never seen him on The Daily Show, eh? I don't think he takes himself nearly as seriously as he usually projects.

The only way I would watch Fat Ass Al is if he was being tortured by Incas.

Re: Four more years of incompetent leadership
Man, what the fuck is going on?
I watched the latest Democratic debate last night. Clinton got her ass smoked. She didn't actually answer any questions, providing the canned political answers that mean nothing. Edwards pointed out what a corporate whore she is. (You guys know I'd call a dude a corporate whore as quickly as a lady, so I'm not being sexist here.) Obama ripped her a new one six or seven times, once even standing up out of turn after she gave a total bullshit answer and essentially saying, "That's bullshit. This election is too important to throw out bullshit. The facts are...."
Even wannabes who have no chance like Kucinich and Richardson (both of whom I actually like, but they have no chance in hell) were practically stomping her head in with steel-toed combat boots.
But, then, after the debate, the CNN talking heads (oddly, a Republican congressman, a former Bush advisor, and a former Bill Clinton advisor) were going on about how no one could touch her and she totally pwned them.
And that's what the news wires are reporting this morning.
Dude, goddammit, what the fuck? If I were a conspiracy theorist, I'd say that the Republicans are secretly funding and supporting Clinton because she's a misguided stupid moron who ignores the blatant fact that half the country hates her damn guts, and they know they can beat her.
Fuck, I hope the polls are not accounting for first-time voters who are supporting Obama or Edwards, and I hope they don't split each others votes too much. Sadly, the way our fucked up primary system works, rural voters in Iowa who likely don't know that it's sanity to wipe their asses after using the outhouse and bumpkins in New Hampshire who spend their days making maple syrup and pronouncing words funny essentially pick the president.
The dumbass may honestly think that anti-Republican sentiment is so strong that any Democrat is a shoo-in, and is more concerned about being in history books for being the first woman president than she is for anything remotely resembling the good of the American people.
