There was a rock festival last month in England called the Download Festival. VH-1 Classic had a 2-hour highlight of it. Haven't seen the whole thing yet. But here are a few things I caught.
-Faith No More re-united. Apparently it is the original line-up. The lead singer is still a bit strange.
-Korn covered "Another Brick in the Wall". I wondered what happened to them. Seems like they just disappeared.
-Journey was there. I can't say I'm a fan of theirs, but I knew Steve Perry left the band a while back. The guy on stage with the band sounded just like him. Even had the same haircut. It turns out they got him from a Journey cover band....in the Philippines. Kind of weird because he's a younger Filipino guy and the rest of the band are a bunch of old white guys.
-Def Leppard played a songs from the Hysteria album which sounded terrible. They sounded bad when I saw them on "Live from Abbey Road" also.

Re: Download Festival
Original original lineup of FNM with that mediocre (but catchy) Chuck fella, or the popular lineup with Mike Patton? He is indeed loony. I've got a few of his non-FNM albums (it seems like every one was a different band name), and, while they all have a moment or two, they're largely unlistenable. The one he did as "Peeping Tom" is the best, if only to hear Norah Jones repeatedly say, "Motherfucker."
It's sad that Journey seems to have forgotten how awesome they were prior to Steve Perry, and are just trying to re-create the Perry sound. Sorta like Fleetwood Mac, except they eventually got Stevie and Lindsey back.
Sad to hear Def Leppard wasn't good live anymore. Every time I've seen them or heard live recordings, they've been amazing. I seem to be the opposite of most fans. I like their poppy stuff from the 80s, really love their brief turn to alternative (on the criminally underrated Slang), and think their revent covers album (Yeah!) was a piece of horseshit. (Why do an album of covers if it's all carbon copies? The exclusive EP released to WM at the same time had better material--like Queen and Tom Petty--and kicked far more ass.)
